5 Tips To Avoid Writers Block
It happens to the best of us. You sit down in front of your computer to update your blog and your brain shuts down. You all of a sudden feel speechless and have nothing to write about. Well don’t worry because I will share with you five things that I do when the words just won’t come out.
- I use a little secret application provided by Google called Google Alerts. Basically what it does is email me updates on the latest news based on the keywords I give to it. This news it literally sent to me as-it-happens. If a headline catches my fancy, I go and read about it, research what I find necessary to understand the subject and form my conclusion. It gives me good relevant and fresh material to blog about!
- I look back into my older posts to see if anything needs updating or expanding upon. The internet world does evolve rapidly and the commodore 64 is not in style anymore.
- Check your comments. Many times your readers will give you ideas for your next blog article.
- Check the comments in other similar blogs. Quite often, the readers of other blogs will have questions that need answering. Take those questions and answer them over at your blog. Readers like people who are problem solvers to use that to your advantage.
- Post an interesting related video. We all like to watch a video every now and again. But make sure to add you description to it so that your RSS readers won’t just see a large white space in the feed. They will see the description and must visit your blog to view the video. I talk more about this in another post I did on RSS subscribers.
Another little trick I use is that I generally like to write 3-5 articles at a time. I find that when I am in the swing of things, pumping out the content is easy so why not do it!
Tip: Do not blog if you truly have nothing to blog about! It will come across as sounding forced and readers do not appreciate that!
